 The history of the South Korean flag
 The flag of South Korea is a white flag with the yin-yang symbol in the center in red and blue. There are four trigrams surrounding the yin-yang symbol. Trigrams are ancient symbols that represent the elements of the earth, they are written down in the Book of Changes. There are eight trigrams in total, each with a different meaning, on the South Korean flag there are four trigrams. Trigrams stand for many different things, including a celestial body, season, wind direction, virtue, family place, natural element, and a meaning. In the same order as above, ||| stands for heaven, spring, east, father of mankind, heaven, and justice. The trigram |¦| represents the sun, autumn, south, justice, daughter, fire, and fulfillment. represents the moon, winter, north, intelligence, son, water, and wisdom and represents earth, summer, west, courtesy, mother, earth, and vitality.
