The history of the Serbian flag
The flag of Serbia is a horizontal tricolor, meaning that the flag consists of three horizontal stripes. The top band is red, the middle band is blue, and the bottom band is white. These three colors are the Pan-Slavic colors, which are derived from the Russian flag. A little to the left of the center is a coat of arms on the Serbian flag, this is the official coat of arms of Serbia.
The flag of Serbia is derived from the Russian flag, in fact it is the inverted Russian flag. A Serbian delegation went to ask for help from the Russians before the first Serbian uprising, Russia provided this help and in recognition Serbia flew the Russian flag as a military flag. From this point on, the story has two versions. The first possibility is that the Russians gave permission and the Serbs forgot the order and then accidentally used the opposite. The second version of the story is that Serbia did not get permission and then the opposite was used as a workaround. This flag is now used not only as a military flag but also as a service flag.
In addition to the Service Flag on Land and Sea and the Military Flag on Land, all of which have the design described above, Serbia also has a number of other flags. The Civil Flag of Serbia and the Serbian Merchant Flag have the same tricolor, but without a shield. The Naval Ensign of Serbia has a red background with the national Serbian Service Ensign in the upper left corner with a white outline. These flags were all adopted on 16 August 2004, but in 2010 the coat of arms was slightly modified.
Serbian flag rules
A Serbian flag as a tribute to Serbia should not be hung outside at night. The Serbian flag is therefore raised at sunrise and lowered at sunset. Do you want to hang several world flags next to each other? Use country flags of the same size or hang them at the same height. The most important national flag - in Norway the Norwegian flag - is always placed in the foreground. You can determine the ranking by using the first letter of the French names of the countries involved.
