History of the flag of Congo-Brazzaville
The flag of Congo-Brazzaville consists of three diagonal bands, these bands have the colors green, yellow and red. The current flag of Congo-Brazzaville has been in use since August 18, 1958. This was two years before Congo-Brazzaville became independent. A few years later, a flag with communist influences was adopted, this was in the year 1970. This flag had a red background and an emblem in the upper left corner. This emblem consisted of a hammer and a pickaxe in yellow with a yellow star above, surrounded by two leaves. This emblem was the coat of arms of Congo-Brazzaville at the time. However, this decision to change the flag was reversed in 1991 on June 10 and the old flag was once again adopted.
The colors of the current flag, namely green, yellow and red, are also known as the Pan-African colors. These colors are used in many flags, especially in Africa. These colors were first used on the flag of Ethiopia, this country later served as a source of inspiration for many other countries. In particular, new flags were adopted when a country gained independence, which is why these colors symbolize independence. Ethiopia is taken as an example because this country has never been a colony, but it was briefly under Italian occupation. In addition to the flag, these Pan-African colors were also included in the coat of arms of Congo-Brazzaville. The current coat of arms of Congo-Brazzaville is a coat of arms with a red lion on top, the background of the shield has the color gold. In the center of the shield there is a green band, around this shield there are two black elephants. Above the shield is a crown bearing the official French name of the country.
Congo-Brazzaville flag rules
A Congo-Brazzaville flag as a tribute to Congo-Brazzaville should not be hung outside at night. The raising of the Congo-Brazzaville flag therefore takes place at sunrise, and the lowering at sunset. Do you want to hang several world flags next to each other? Use country flags of the same size or hang them at the same height. The most important national flag - in Norway the Norwegian flag - is always placed in the foreground. You can determine the ranking by using the first letter of the French names of the countries involved.
